Just imagine how you lay in bed at night, incredible tired, and in the minute you close your eyes a pesky mosquito starts buzzing around your ears, nose, lips…everywhere. And this is what I call an annoying and sleepless night!
The first thing to do is to cover all your body in the sheets, but this will work only for a while because you’ll start sweating and won’t be able to breathe.
The second action you’ll take is to turn on the light and catch that little buzzing bastard that messes with your sleep. So, you’ll grab a towel or a swatter and stalk the mosquito until you’ll get it down. But this is the most frustrating thing you can do at 1 a.m. when all you want is to sleep like an angel.
However, there are other methods you can use to get rid of those pesky mosquitoes out of your house and enjoy a quiet night.
Scents That Repel Mosquitoes
Citronella, lavender, peppermint, eucalyptus and lemon oil are the best repellents that can keep mosquitoes at a distance. However, citronella turns in being the most effective essential oil that will keep mosquitoes at a distance. But, its essence is very strong and those with breathing problems may have some issues in sleeping with citronella perfume right beneath their noses.
All you need is a burner and one of the above essential oil to enjoy a mosquito free night.
Indoor Mosquito Trap
- Empty soda bottle
- 2 oz. of brown sugar
- 7 oz. of hot water
- Some yeast
- A black cloth
Step to make the mosquito trap:
Just cut the empty bottle in half. In a small bowl dissolve the brown sugar in hot water, and then pour the mixture into the bottle after it cools a bit.
The next move is to sprinkle some yeast in the brown sugar solution which will emit carbon dioxide.
At the end, wrap the plastic bottle in the black cloth and place the top of the plastic bottle upside down inside the bottom part to form a funnel.
Mosquitoes will be attracted into the trap and won’t be able to get out.
