Everyone cleans every inch of its house, every dusty and tarnished item, but have you ever considered in cleaning the hairbrushes? I supposed not, because these overused hair items are often forgotten. But, you should that like any other beauty tools, such as makeup brushes, hairbrushes get dirty too, especially if you are using styling hair products. You can’t even imagine what can lurk between those little bristles.
By ignoring your hairbrush, you will also ignore a colony of germs and bacteria hiding around the bristles that may cause severe scalp infections. The most known scalp problem worldwide is dandruff, and fighting against it is a battle most people end up losing it.
Also, that gross hair and dead skin cells build up will redeposit on your hair, making it look oily and dirty, and I’m pretty sure that you don’t want that.
In this regard, you should take some hygienic measures, and start taking proper care of your hairbrushes…and if you don’t know how to clean them, you should probably read the lines below.
Depending on the hairbrush texture, there are certain methods to clean it properly.
- Half a cup of hot water
- A few drops of tea tree oil
Add the tea tree oil in the water and stir to incorporate the ingredients.
Remove all the hair from the hairbrush and use the toothbrush to clean all the residues between the hairbrush bristles.
- Half a cup of water
- 1 tablespoon of shampoo
- 1 tablespoon of baking soda
Mix well to dissolve the shampoo and baking soda then take the toothbrush and dip it into the solution. Start rubbing well the bristles to remove all the dirt between them.
Important! After washing the hairbrushes take some paper towels and dry them, especially the wooden hairbrush because moist may ruin the material.
